This past Friday was not the best day for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team as they faced off against Missouri State in their opener, landing on the wrong end of an 8-2 defeat at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field. With an excited crowd of 3,869 fans cheering them on, Coach Matt Deggs' squad aimed to kick off the season with a win. However, the Bears quickly set the tone, establishing their dominance from the first inning.

Sophomore Michael Yusypchuk stole the spotlight with a stellar performance, throwing six shutout innings and limiting the Cajuns to just three hits. Fans had high hopes as Ty Roman made his Cajuns debut, but he would ultimately struggle to match Yusypchuk’s skills, despite a fairly solid start.

Caden Bogenpohl, who is considered a top pro prospect, hammered a long shot to right-center.
